Venice: no seats. and the toilets are on the floor.

I spend a lot of time in France so I'm reasonably used to this. Usually everything in France is clean, but IME, if it's not that clean, you're better off with the "on the floor" type.

I also carry kleenex with me everywhere when travelling (or, let's face it, attending a night club in England) just in case.
