That's 'cause Google Groups sucks.

Remember how we set up a tunnel for port 25 for email back a while ago? Do that for 119 as well. Then point your favorite newsreader at localhost when you've got putty open to ninehells.

you'll notice that i haven't sent mail across your server in ages - something got fouled with putty and/or mozilla, and that tunnel trick stopped working because i couldn't log in successfully.

which is a moot point when i'm at the office, but i'm beginning to agree that googlegroups does, in fact, suck.
