ramblin' ramblin' man

Two out of two medical professionals think [livejournal.com profile] the_siobhan's current meat-suit is potentially salvagable. I rate that as a good day.

So to sum up; stomach issues sorted, skeletal issues sorted, respiratory and mouth issues in progress. Next thing on my check-list is to find out why my eyesight is suddenly deteriorating[1].

You know what else they don't tell you about getting older? The fact that it's so damn time-consuming.

[1]Oddly enough, I can view the prospect of going blind with a lot more equanimity that I can losing my teeth. I've been told by doctors that I would eventually lose most or all of my vision[2] since I was in my teens.

[2]Although in all probability, all I really need is bi-focals.

Hooray for potentially salvageable!

With the asthma, have you already tried a heavy-duty mask of doom when you're doing building projects or cleaning? The one I have cost about £30 from a DIY store and filters out PM10 (particles smaller than 10 micrometres - the ones which can get into the lungs) and organic solvents up to some pretty high concentration. You sweat like hell under it but this is ok if you can go into another room and wipe the mask/your face with a thin towel every 20 minutes or so. (If it's relatively low-dust work, you can even leave the towel in the same room and just hold your breath for 30 seconds or so).

I also recommend extensive use of saline nasal sprays. This helps to stop particles getting into your breathing system to start with.

I do have a heavy-duty mask for renos. The respirologist asked me about nasal sprays as well and I've never tried them. I may give 'em a shot.

I am in love with the drug Singular.

My doc put me on singular, and it didn't do anything. (She did warn me it works for some people, but not for everybody.)

I only tried it for a month, so I'm going to give it another go and see if maybe I need to build up a tolerance or something.
