The big concern appears to be driving the now-dirty water into the Eustachian tubes. If you can get the liquid out without driving any of it into your inner ear, you're all good.

I've discovered that little bits of water seems to hide inside my head and a sudden change of position can make it abruptly flow out again. (As I discovered as I bent over to kiss the_axel last night.)
