the staff of life

I ate a ton of bread and pasta while I was in Haiti. Absolutely no problems at all. They get their flour from Argentina and Venezuela.

So that confirms that my sensitivity/allergy is specifically to wheat grown in Canada and the US for whatever reason[1]. The next step will be to find some of those ethnic specialty stores that import foodstuffs for people who figure stuff from home is always better[2]. There are lots of Italian and Portuguese stores in my neighbourhood so I'll start there.

[1]One of my theories was GMO strains, but apparently that is not the case with wheat. Corn, soybeans and canola yes, but not wheat.
[2]Or at least has packaging they can read[3].
[3]I guess that means I should look up the Portuguese and Italian words for "flour"[4].
[4]Axel is in Seattle so somebody has to keep up the side[5].
[5]Although I'm better at keeping track of the numbering. :-p
