my friend's house has stools and they are for Hanging Out in the Kitchen, because everyone knows that no matter how nice the living room, hanging out for some reason gravitates to the kitchen, I have party memories of sitting on kitchen floors I don't even remember who they belong to. My parents' house and my current house both have a low countertop/bar that does get eaten at (often in front of the computer), with proper chairs.
