I have a similar experience with work days vs. weekends and for similar reasons, i.e. other things take up brain bandwidth. I hope the sketchbook idea proves fruitful for you! :-)

On Day 16, I only got down 117 words on the short story I started on Wednesday. My brain is in refusal to move forward mode on the novel, I think because I really don't want it to be over. *sighs*
