Write Every Day: Day 16

Just over 300 words last night. \o/

Weekdays tend to be more productive for me, because even though I'm working at paid job during the day, I'm not doing many other regular chores outside of dishes and drive-by tidying. Weekends are set aside for chores, repairs, and Old Man visits so even if I have time for writing my brain seems to get too tapped out by the end of the day for anything creative.

I'm looking at my calendar for next week and I have something on my schedule almost every night. I've been thinking about getting a small sketchpad just to carry around with me so I can jot stuff down while I'm on the subway or in waiting rooms, this might be a good time to start doing that.

Carrying a pad and pencil around is always a good idea. You never know when an idea or a line of dialogue might pop into your head. (For me it's usually when I'm up to my elbows in hot water washing dishes *rolls eyes*)

June 16th - 1017 words, a 1k fic for a challenge with a 1k limit, and a spot of editing on a fic for posting.

I have a similar experience with work days vs. weekends and for similar reasons, i.e. other things take up brain bandwidth. I hope the sketchbook idea proves fruitful for you! :-)

On Day 16, I only got down 117 words on the short story I started on Wednesday. My brain is in refusal to move forward mode on the novel, I think because I really don't want it to be over. *sighs*

Even though I do most of my writing with a pen in a notebook, when I'm out and about I usually rely on my phone or a tablet, since I have trouble fitting a reasonably-sized notebook in my purse (and definitely not my normal notebook, which lives inside a leather cover). I usually try and make sure I have a good stylus on hand if I feel like I might need something other than my fingers to type with.

Day 16: last 10 minutes of the day and just under a page.

I'm also more productive on weekdays despite them being workdays! I frequently have downtime or hurry-up-and-wait time at work, so I have time to write. Weekends are for chores, errands, socializing, or doing other hobby stuff like gaming, reading, etc.
