When I was a little peanut, Mrs. Whitehouse down the block had a rooster--just a rooster--as a pet, and he'd crow in the morning (and also whenever he felt like it). This was in a neighborhood in a small city. I still remember that rooster. :-)

Also, we, too, have smoke, the worst we've yet had it, so I can imagine it's probably much thicker there.
