I read Hyperion eons ago. It was all the rage on this SF and Fantasy discussion forum I used to frequent in the early 2000s. Apparently it contains loads and loads of literary references, e.g. to Keats, Chaucer, Yeats, Shakespeare, etc. I didn't pick up on any of that -- mostly because all of my education up to that point had been in French and when we studied English, it was English for people for whom English isn't their first language, and we studied mostly Canadian authors. Anyway, I found the thing really tedious, and I'm not even sure I finished it. Had zero desire to read the next one.

But apparently Bradley Cooper's trying to make it into a film.
