Write Every Day: Day 9

I usually set my alarm a little later on Sundays because nobody else is at work so I can take my time on tasks. It's still the most productive day of my week just because I'm never interrupted.

Lord Brock starts shouting before my alarm goes off because he wants his breakfast. Then he stands outside the bathroom door and shouts at me while I pee and wash my face because I'm taking too long. He stands at the top of the stairs and continues to shout while I throw my medications down my neck and put on pants.

Once in the kitchen I turn on the coffee while he shouts at me that I'm taking too long. I make his breakfast. If I'm lucky I make it all the way back into the kitchen before he starts shouting that his water is stale, where is his fresh water, dammit?

If I'm fast I can get my coffee into the cup before he's done eating. If I have to unload the dishwasher like I did today he's already upstairs by the time I'm finished and shouting down the stairs for me to hurry up.

Once I'm seated in my office chair I start powering up computers and monitors. He sits at my feet and shouts at me and tugs on my pant leg with a single claw. Finally I pick him up and plop him on my lap. He immediately starts purring at the top of his lungs and shoving his head under my hands.

It's a tough life. Send help.

Let me know if I missed you and you can jump in any time.

Oh, the poor mite! That's very understandable, then. We've also had our share of cats who didn't deal well with our absence, currently mainly Viggo who's getting very demanding and loud when we're both gone for most of the day, and reacts by being his mischief-doing worst (a.k.a. pushing and drawing things out of cupboards and shelves and onto the floor, preferably breakables). For him it makes a difference when we both give him extra attention and I carry him around all evening - I've seriously considered a baby sling at times to at least have my hands free. 🤡 I wouldn't mind that much if this wouldn't take time and attention away from the others, but it is how it is.
Have you ever tried giving Lord Brock some piece of worn clothing from you to lie upon/ in his favourite resting/sleeping spots? Or perhaps something else - a fabric plushie or small cushion or so - you can have in your bed/close to your body while you sleep so it'll assimilate your body scent, and then give it to him.
We've learned about that when going away on holiday, and left worn t-shirts on various preferred sleeping/resting places every time we went on holiday. Every time, each shirt was well-covered in cat hair afterwards, so they seemed to at least like it. They also always like to lie/sleep on discarded clothing *coughs*, so I believe anything smelling like us is appreciated. Perhaps this could also help Lord Brock to feel a bit more secure.
But I'm really glad he's found with you someone who is caring for him also in this way! ♥
