two gentlemen and a couple of touristas

Verona has something I have not seen elsewhere in Italy - wide streets and sidewalks. Also green common space. Most of the gardens we have seen in other cities were located on roofs and behind private walls.

They have an arena that was built in the first century, and it's still being used for operas. The outer wall was demolished during an earthquake and some of the marble steps have been reinforced with wood, but it's still operating. It seats 20,000 people.

My little North American heart just boggles.

Back in Rome for a couple of days, then home on Saturday.

And to think, having a large bladder, I managed to miss these cultural experiences completely!

I have to plan my entire day around such things. I had hoped that the hysterectomy would give me more internal space for pee storage, but no such luck.
