Convergence 13

[livejournal.com profile] the_axel booked our car and our room last night.

Guess that means we're going.

Hey, if the worst happens, you'll have a lot of fun travelling and hanging out with friends. There'll just happen to be a convention happening at the same place.

Oh, I wasn't being grumpy. Just terse. :-)

We're currently debating whether or not to buy tickets - I seem to recall the venue is smoking which would make buying tickets kind of pointless for me. I should probably email the committee.

I should probably email the committee.

Just so you know, you can probably expect a 3-4 week gap between your email and their answer.

How so?

And then there was this on the website:

General Admission Laminates prices will increase after January 14th, 2007 due to increased production costs. If you'd like to take advantage of the current $60.00 USD price tag that gains you access to all five days of our festival, please be sure to purchase your laminates as soon as possible!

I'm wondering what the new price will be.

*mopes*

If people are smoking inside, I can't go in.

My asthma has gotten 50 billions times worse over the years.

Gotcha.

[identity profile] holmes365.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
damndamndamndamn! and I was hoping to go until the family shit blew up! It should be a good year. Damn!

I was looking forward to seeing people, and now you are going and I was going to bring moxie and child along and I will be here cleaning out my mothers apartment and studying latin. I need to find the cheese to match my whine, humph!

I missed the last two because of money issues. I was very annoyed about missing NOLA.

How long will you be down there for and how long is the drive? I'm still fantasizing about going.:P

[identity profile] the-siobhan.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
We're taking a week to drive there and another week to drive back. We'll be doing lots of sight-seeing, you can do it faster if you push it.

We'll be in Portland Thursday to Monday.

[identity profile] inulro.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Having done about 2/3 of the drive (Regina-Toronto) in 23 1/2 hours, I confirm that you really don't want to take less than a week, unless you feel like getting to Portland and being a complete zombie the whole time you're there.

We'll be leaving on Thursday, the 17th, driving via Michigan to Sault Ste Marie ('cos it's quicker) and then following the Trans-Canada Highway through Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary to Vancouver and then duck down the west coast to Portland, to arrive on the 24th.

We're in Portland from the 24th - 28th when we'll drive back to Toronto (probably visiting friends who live along the way).

If you were to drive there directly it's about 40 hours driving time, so 3 days with 2 people with licences & a little sleep.

I am insanely jealous...I would LOVE to make that drive.

[identity profile] the-siobhan.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm really looking forward to that part. :-)

[identity profile] intercitykitty.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)

I believe the girl and a friend are going to come down from Seattle for the event. Y'all should meet up.

[identity profile] the-siobhan.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be a capital plan.

I don't suppose there's any chance you'd be making it?

[identity profile] elusis.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Unlikely. I"ll probably go see her in Seattle in mid-March when the universities are out for break.

[identity profile] the-siobhan.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I suspected so.

However... we have a week to drive back. Would you be up for having visitors on our way home?

[identity profile] elusis.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
I just might be, actually. Let's coordinate further.

[identity profile] the-siobhan.livejournal.com 2007-01-10 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
We're still figuring out our trip back - I'll send you an email.

(Most likely we would be hitting your area of the world on the Tuesday or Wednesday.)

[identity profile] unagothae.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Well, then, I'll probably see you there :D
