Hey, if the worst happens, you'll have a lot of fun travelling and hanging out with friends. There'll just happen to be a convention happening at the same place.
We're currently debating whether or not to buy tickets - I seem to recall the venue is smoking which would make buying tickets kind of pointless for me. I should probably email the committee.
Just so you know, you can probably expect a 3-4 week gap between your email and their answer.

How so?
And then there was this on the website:
General Admission Laminates prices will increase after January 14th, 2007 due to increased production costs. If you'd like to take advantage of the current $60.00 USD price tag that gains you access to all five days of our festival, please be sure to purchase your laminates as soon as possible!
damndamndamndamn! and I was hoping to go until the family shit blew up! It should be a good year. Damn!
I was looking forward to seeing people, and now you are going and I was going to bring moxie and child along and I will be here cleaning out my mothers apartment and studying latin. I need to find the cheese to match my whine, humph!
Having done about 2/3 of the drive (Regina-Toronto) in 23 1/2 hours, I confirm that you really don't want to take less than a week, unless you feel like getting to Portland and being a complete zombie the whole time you're there.
We'll be leaving on Thursday, the 17th, driving via Michigan to Sault Ste Marie ('cos it's quicker) and then following the Trans-Canada Highway through Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary to Vancouver and then duck down the west coast to Portland, to arrive on the 24th.
We're in Portland from the 24th - 28th when we'll drive back to Toronto (probably visiting friends who live along the way).
If you were to drive there directly it's about 40 hours driving time, so 3 days with 2 people with licences & a little sleep.

If people are smoking inside, I can't go in.
My asthma has gotten 50 billions times worse over the years.
