Hoo-ray for Bollywood

So there is a video rental store just around the corner from us that carries titles from Bollywood. And every time I pass by there, I think I should get a membership and check out some of the films.

I know there are at least a few people on my f-list who are into the genre, so can you recommend a good place to start? Particular directors or actors to look out for?

I mean how could I give up the chance to see more material like this?

(I don't know why this is no longer in there, but it used to say:
"On Jan 9, 2007, Shah Rukh Khan was featured against Amitabh Bachchan in the "We the Mediator" segment of the American news-comedy show The Colbert Report and won it because of his dancing skills. However Colbert changed his decision on Jan 19 and awarded Bachchan with the victory.")

I saw that sequence. I thought Bachchan had a real Sean Connery thing goin' on.

There is only one Bollywood movie. :)

(No, seriously, there is only one Bollywood musical, I'm sure of it).

There's a Bollywood cricket comedy called Lagani (or something, I couldn't google the spelling) which has been highly recommended.
