call out to the knitters on my f-list

Somebody on the Toronto LJ community is calling out for donations of yarn, needles, whatever people are not using for a knitting club that has just started at one of our inner city schools.

They have a waiting list of kids who want to join and nowhere near enough supplies for all of them. So any donations will be most welcome.

(Maybe I could get them to knit me a life-sized version of one of these.)

You might want to let them know to contact Lion Brand Yarn. I know someone who asked for donations of yarns from them for an after school program at an inner city school. The yarn company sent them *tons* of things...from yarns, to patterns, to accessories. IIRC, she also got donations of needles and stuff from Susan Bates Comapany.

Heh. I have a friend who designed a crochet pattern for the Dalek. Maybe if you're a very good girl, Santa will bring you somehting special for Christmas ;) heh heh heh

What a wonderful idea! I hope they have lots of success.

I would love to do something along these lines, if I were any good with other people's children. Maybe I'll find someone else to set it up and I can just help in the background. :P
