I can't find any useful list of modern mass shootings in Australia (and massacres mixes in a lot of historical massacres, 'cause that was what you did with natives), so Wikipedia's os probably the best. In terms of spree killers, the Milperra massacre is the only one that was front of mind, but I'm not Victorian, and that was a shoot-out.
Most of ours look to have been non-automatic weapons, but I'm hardly an expert in guns. We did have a spate of drive-buys this year, from memory they were associated to infighting between ethnic gangs in greater Sydney, but there are also reports of houses being peppered with shots that are never followed up.
I like our gun laws. There's no real need for semi-automatics, and there are quite strict requirements for gun safes, and licensing. I imagine, given that about 5.2% of Australian adults own guns, it is easy to perform inspections.
