Write Every Day: Day 8

Did you know that June 7 is Clean Air Day in Canada? I showed this a friend of mine and he said, "What, we're exporting irony now?"

The local schools have announced that they are turning off the air intakes in their HVAR systems because of the pollution levels. You know, the HVAC that was installed to increase ventilation against Covid.

Never in my wildest imaginings could I have come up with an apocalypse scenario that is just so dumb. But we are supposed to get heavy rain in the next day or two, so hopefully that will reach some of the fires. And maybe wash some of the particulate matter out of the air, I dunno how that works.

Anyway! Writing happened! I logged in last night to do an alibi sentance and ended up with 200 new words, so not bad.

Ugh, this is the WORST timeline, isn't it? Like you, we're holding out for some rain and a different wind pattern to make things better. Today was a little rough hereabouts. I hope your tomorrow is better!

On Day 8, I added 341 words to start Chapter 16. I might've had more, except I realized I'd changed tenses partway through Chapter 15--d'oh! So, I spent a good deal of today's writing time rectifying that mistake.

Also, YES, it is better here today, down to 101 on the AQI, and we're having regular overcast skies, pending rain, so I think that's helping as well. Maybe I'll even be able to get my tomatoes and peppers in the ground today! *crosses fingers and toes*

Writers block just... happens some time. You're doing an amazing job of sticking with the habit and I honestly think that helps.

8 June -- I sat down to write -- hopefully to finish the archive note part of the fan flashworks piece, and got some very terrible news, that I then tried to process a little in poetry, but that wasn't happening. (I got a couple very disjoint phrases that may or may not be useful when I can eventually write it.)

My understanding is that the worst fires are in Quebec, and that your fires started early, were mild, then were not?

I don't understand quite how rains will help, or even what your rains are like (rain is different!), but I guess it would help clean the air, but also wash all the shit into the water sources/courses.

But at least shareholders are making a motza!

The rain helps bring the ash and other heavy particulate matter out of the air. It seems to have helped at least a bit.

We were saying that, too. The outside air was healthier for a while until it wasn't ... Schools, though, eesh, and the buses are worse. Ppl are getting CO2 readings of 3000-4000ppm inside buses. No wonder the drivers are passing out. Funny, not haha, if you go back a number of years apparently science was aware of that.
