medical question

What would you eat if you were told to stick to "soft" foods?

All I can think of is soup and yogurt.

I'd avoid rice or risotto or anything that's small like that. I had issues with things getting stuck in the new void when I had my tooth pulled and I don't wish that on anyone.

I went with lots of those "soup at hand" containers. Mashed potatoes are good along with puddings and jellos. Lots of good suggestions above, too. Just keep textures in mind with the fact that you have a new hole for things to settle into - small lumpy things aren't so good.

Yeah, I was wondering a bit about things getting stuck in the hole.

Melt a beeswax candle and use the softened wax to plug the hole so food doesn't get into it. That's what I did when my temporary crown fell out until I could get to the dentist the next day.

As for unmentioned food, do you have an aversion to cottage cheese?

That is seriously bad-ass.

I think mine is too tender, but I haven't actually had any problems with food migrating into it so far. (And it seems to be clotting pretty well.)

I get to go tomorrow to have a cavity filled in that's underneath an old crown. So bye-bye silver tooth, (yes, they'll have to take off the crown that's been in place since 1988) and install a new one.

Thank the goddess I get to pay for this in parts.
