Last night I had the worst asthma attack I've ever had.

I should have gone home a lot earlier than I did, but I was fighting giving into it, wanting to stay out and play. When I finally did go home I couldn't find my inhaler right away and I started to panic, searching the house, running back and forth until the world got very dark and very small and I woke up on the floor.

Today I hurt all over. The inside of my chest feels like there is a brick in it, my throat is raw, the muscles around my rib cage are aching, I'm covered in bruises, I have a bump on my knee and a matching one on my bean.

The irony of all this is that a major topic of conversation at the pub was the bylaw that goes into effect in Toronto on Tuesday, making all bars and clubs smoke-free.

I said I couldn't wait. Make that times 10.

!!!!!

Holy fuck. Now I wish I'd either insisted that Axel go home with you, or that I'd gone home with you myself.

Promise me you'll carry your inhaler with you from now on. Please?

I heard you had an attack and went home when I ran into Amy, but you were long gone by then. I had no idea it was this bad.

Next time, please please please *insist* that SOMEONE come back home with you so this doesn't happen again. Call me crazy, but I'd rather be slightly inconvenienced if it means that you don't have to pass out on the floor looking for a goddamn inhaler ever again.

I'm super fucking glad you're okay.

D'Oh!

Was there no-one there with an inhaler? I'm pretty crap at taking mine out with me since I so rarely get into trouble, but I've never been in a crowded place and not been able to find someone to help when I was. Butthen, Asthma is frighteningly common here, maybe not so in your part of the world - a good thing, except in this sort of situation...

Hope you're feeling better soon and chalk this up as one more reminder from your body that you need to factor in some Take It Easy Time, eh? Get some rest!

sorry to hear you had such a rough time :( hot ginger tea will help soothe your muscles from the inside and i would suggest taking a painkiller too to help those muscles relax. also if you have a gym ball, lying on it and letting your arms stretch out (like a starfish) will open all those muscles up and let you breathe a bit easier too. even though i've not had an asthma issue in over a year, i always make sure i have mine with me. i think what you went through is probably my worst nightmare!

Ow indeed.

Put that inhaler in your jacket pocket when you go out, woman! I almost never have trouble, but I generally manage to remember to throw mine in my lunchbox along with my bottle of naproxen (headaches are much more a problem for me usually).

And I'm with you on that smoking ban. I wish Denver would pass one.
