You have no idea how good that feels.

Most of my exercise in the last few months has come from riding my bike home from work in the fall and doing yoga once a week for the last couple of months. In other words, not enough.

I joined the community centre across the street from my house, reasoning that going some place close by would be easier and therefore I'd be more likely to make the effort. Espcially since it means I'll be able to shower and eat at home and won't have to lug a bag with two meals, two changes of clothes and a wet towel all the way to work on the bus.

It's smaller and the equipment is cheaper and more crowded than at the Y and it lacks an indoor track. But it's also a third the price. They charge a quarter for the lockers, but I noticed most of the regulars don't bother to pay - they just leave the doors unlocked. There seems to be a trust arrangement going on that is very different from the Y, where things are constantly being stolen out of the change rooms.

Today's workout followed my brief and somewhat perfunctory orientation so it was a short one, but I WENT TO THE GYM!
