You know, when I think about it, it's probably a marketing thing. Tampon manufacturers put "flushable" on the boxes because it makes women more likely to choose them over pads, which you know you have to drop in the trash.

But think about it. If they actually break down in liquid, how good could it possibly be at performing it's intended function? It would be leaving little bits of itself behind every time you used one.
