vagabonds and children and all
Apr. 22nd, 2004 03:01 pmToday I am on half-speed.
I worked a midnight shift on Tuesday night, came home and slept for a few hours, got up and sorted out a few things that needed to be done then ran out the door. Picked up
bcholmes's car, picked up
the_axel and
50_ft_queenie at their respective jobs, picked up
theonetrinity at the subway, got stuck in traffic, got lost, found the highway, got rained on a whole lot, got stopped at the border, got into the venue, watched the show, drove back to Toronto, dropped off
50_ft_queenie, dropped off
theonetrinity, dropped off
the_axel, dropped off
bcholmes's car, and caught a cab home.
Sat for a couple of hours with a beer in front of me trying to unwind. I get wrapped up in the intense concentration needed to stay alert on long drives and it takes me a while to unwrap that so that I can sleep once I do crawl into bed.
Hey,
len9, remember you telling me once that your father doesn't believe in "mental exhaustion"? Ask him if he's ever driven for a couple of hours in a bad snow or rainstorm. That's a pretty good example of something that can leave one utterly exhausted even though physically you've just been sitting on your ass the whole time.
Anyway, the show was pretty cool - I've never seen New Model Army play life before, and they difinitely know how to keep a room riveted, even with a smaller line-up than normal.
So for today, low stress. I'm noodling around the office and tidying up a few loose-ends, putting together a few packages to be mailed, cleaning out my in-box, crossing smaller items off my to-do list. All the low-key relaxed stuff that I never seem to get around to otherwise. Like a mid-week holiday.
Maybe I'll even have another one of those beers.
