i love tv and i love t rex
Mar. 31st, 2015 11:09 amI read something this morning that Toronto saw it's lowest participation in Earth Hour since the event started. I know I didn't participate. Because I am fully aware that turning your lights off for one hour once a year does sweet fuck all if that's all that ever gets done. I participated in the first year because it was (I thought at the time) a good way for the general public to demonstrate commitment to conservation, just in case anybody is listening. So of course it immediately gets turned into a marketing strategy. My employer now suggests that people observe Earth Day by going for a walk outside on their lunch break. Seriously, who comes up with this shit?
So instead of participating in environmental tokenism we invited a few people to come over to our house to eat pizza and drink beer and watch terrible movies. We watched Iron Sky and I was introduced to the absolutely wonderful terribleness of Danger 5 and then we introduced Sabz to Archer.
As of this morning George is still in hiding. He is a wee white cat with brown spots on his butt and a brown cap that looks just like he is wearing a bad mullet wig. He cries and cringes when somebody reaches out to touch him and then purrs when the touch turns out to be scritches so that doesn't leave me with warm fuzzies in regards to his previous experiences with humans. We are mostly leaving him alone except for pets and treats a couple of times a day in the hope that this will eventually convince him we are safe to be around.
Somebody asked me how things are going, and you know, outside of my work driving me nuts I have nothing to complain about. Life is kind of boring right now, but the thing about having an eventful life is that it really teaches you to appreciate boring.
And it's a short work-week this week. Thank you Christians!
