You might be aware that in many social circles, being straightforward about sex Just Isn't Done. This is silly, of course, and leads to all kinds of bizarre behaviors ("I'm ***so*** drunk!" followed by a giggle is, I believe, considered by comedians to be the mating call of the blond college girl, and I wouldn't believe it except that I've seen it happen several times, and it's not just blonds). This is not to suggest that going up to people and asking wouldn't work in said context, just that most women would never consider it to be a viable option. It's sad, really, since beer in the sinuses is awfully entertaining.
