I honestly do not know what to do against: a) the idea that just lying has become a legitimate political tactic that seems to have no defense (because pointing out lies always plays poorly somehow); b) the idea that promising cuts, especially tax cuts, trumps every single other issue possible, no matter what it is. The combination of those just make me feel hopeless.
