I'm sure you've heard all the advice to birthmothers. As someone who has been on the other end of the process, let me just say that even though there have been some strained moments in my relations with my birthmother, I'm overall really glad that we got to meet and to know each other.
If you'd like, I'd be glad to put you in touch with my birthmother so you can get her thoughts and feelings. Honestly, the two of you remind me of each other a little, now that I think about it. She's been pretty heavily involved in the adoption community, specifically with Bastard Nation and some other groups, although she has gotten out of it recently, since it was just too much work.
