Absolutely! If you make a huge batch you can freeze what's not being used in a week or so (freeze week-size batches? So you don't have to hack off a lump later.)
There is commercial made, too - but definitely cheaper to make your own. Just remember NOT to put anything in the onion family in any broth you're making for the kitty.
My own metabolic issues I am assuming are just from living in a deep freezer
Ohhhhh yea, that'll do it too. If you've got a local restaurant supply place, they might have a large pack of pre-cooked bacon. For me that's body heat fuel right there, meat and fat in a tasty package, and I don't have to cook it first. :)
