My weekend started by accidentally interrupting a suicide attempt. How is yours going?
Other than that Mrs Lincoln, the play went pretty well. Lawyer got paperwork. Government got paperwork. Tree is now in - I found an arborist who was willing to show up on short notice and drag 12 feet of forest through my living room. So I got to cross that off the list.
I was supposed to tour an LTC on Friday and I was just putting my boots on to leave when I got a call from the care coordinator - Old Man has a placement. It's in one of the places I had reached out to because they have all the services he needs and my sister has been in the rooms and said the facilities are comfortable and clean. The only downside is that it's out in the middle of nowhere so it will be a bit of a pain to get to.
He moves on Wednesday, so I've booked a WheelTrans to take him. I'm going over on Tuesday to pack a bag with his clothes and meds and I'll sort out the rest once I see how big his room is. This is a huge relief, they have 24-hour care and he is much less likely to end up back in the hospital. He was pretty much sold on the move as soon as I told him he'd be getting regular physio. They also take him to medical appointments, so that will literally take a part-time job off my hands. Halle-fucking-lujah a change that does not actually give me yet more work to do.
Housemate packing plans got postponed, because of course they did. But on the plus side their partner picked them up for the weekend so they took a trunkload of boxes with them. And discovered/threw out another cat pee box in the process, so now the main floor is back down to it's base level of funk.
Phone calls tomorrow:
Follow up with the grant program. I sent them my info and got an auto-respond and the deadline is Thursday
Call back the bed rental company because I haven't heard back from them either
Follow up with the transition coordinator at the LTC to make sure they have lifts on site, what he needs to bring with him, etc
Other stuff to keep on my radar:
I need to terminate his lease at the retirement home, so note to self to pick up the paperwork when I'm there on Tuesday.
Sister said she'll help hauling furniture out of his room so schedule that once I know how much time we have. I will probably end up renting another storage unit for a lot of his stuff. In fact, most of the stuff in my storage is furniture housemate is taking with them, so talk to them about renting their own and that should free up enough space.
Next house task should be sorting out storage shed, I can't find any of my tools and there are things I need them for.
Fingers crossed.
[Edited to Add] Local massage clinic just sent me an email with upcoming availability. That sounds like a fine plan once I get through this mess because wow, could I use it.
