Yay for accomplishments! \O/ Interesting tidbit about the toxic taxi - and a cool name for it! We have a lorry (with specialised containment containers etc.) coming every two weeks to various spots in the commune for anything chemical or toxic, but where and how you can rid of this stuff varies from commune to commune - some have collection containers in their guild/town halls or the building of the waste recycling administration. Batteries is easy, every supermarket and many other shops have containers right beside the paper and plastic bins. The latter are supposed to only be used for packaging you don't want to bring home from the supermarket, as everybody has their recycling bins at home anyway, but batteries is meant for any you might have. Last week, I went to the recycling plant myself as we had half a regular shopping bag full of old batteries from MIL's house, far too many for the supermarket containers! I'm starting to fear that "Siljan's mum never threw anything away" is becoming shockingly literal.
