I have a pair of safety boots with steel toes and a plate in the soles.
They are, of course, in storage. I couldn't find the damn things when I hunted.
So I've been wearing regular combat boots, which are mostly thick enough, but this particular nail landed between the treads and made it all the way up to my foot. It didn't break the skin -- I have really hard feet[1] (#note1) -- but I have a nasty bruise that makes walking on it uncomfortable.
