the_axel theorized that since people might have oddball tastes or have esteem issues, a far better method is to look at the attractiveness quotient (however you measure such a thing) of their other relationships - from fuckbuddies to long-term partners.

I'm not sure I follow. Almost every single one of my hook-ups (long-term or "other") have noses that are disproportionately large compared to the rest of their facial features. My nose is perfectly normal and, dare I say, almost button-like. Also, the boyses I choose tend to be very strange looking, definitely not classically handsome. (Classic handsomeness, in fact, is one of my top turn-offs.) But I am not strange looking. I think that I have an incredibly normal, plain, boring, and bland face. I always kind of figured that I choose who I do because a) I find myself boring, looks-wise, and having somebody who is interesting to look at "balances me out", and b) I came of age with Trent Reznor posters plastered all over my wall and Judd Nelson all over my TV screen. Hence, big nose fetish.

Unless, of course, Herr Axel was talking about other sorts of attractiveness, in which case I will agree: like my chosen mates, I too appear to be perfectly peachy until you find my fatal flaw.

But I guess we all have one of those, now don't we.
