The Mooncave Tavern
Jul. 4th, 2002 10:32 pmgirfan just accidentally reminded me of this pub where I used to drink when I was underage and living out in the 'burbs. It was a common gathering place for people on their way to the weekly midnight showing of the Rocky Horrow Picture Show.
It was decorated with styrofoam and paper-mache stalactites and stalagmites (never could remember the difference between the two), painted in "earth tones" and dimly lit. There were crevaces full of tatty stuffed owls and plastic bats and the occasional odd "I found this at a garage sale and thought it was cool" momento -- including an Elvis bust.
Many a drunk wandered out of there with a nasty bruise on their forehead.
Cool place. I haven't thought of it in years.
