Last night I got the chance to go to a fundraiser for Casey House called June's HIV+ Eatery. It was a catered event where the chefs are all HIV+. My workplace is a sponsor and the organizers threw a bunch of free tickets to the sponsorship committee, who passed them on to the Pride network and somehow I got my grubby paws on one.

I don't know what I expected, but it was a ridiculous number of courses of amazing gourmet cooking. I have never eaten like that in my life.

And the people I was sitting with were terrible influences and I drank way too much for a work event. It was so much fun though.

And I maaaaaaaaay have gotten signed up to help out the Pride & WorkAbility Networks organize an co-sponsored event because of course I did.

if a hammer doesn't fix it, get a bigger hammer

My mother's husband elected to give my mother's car to a friend of the family who has no vehicle, lives in a small town with crap transit, and has two toddlers. I left all the relevant paperwork at home for her to pick up. Her mother drove her to Toronto and I get a call from the Service Ontario where the two of them are trying to get the ownership transferred.

"We don't have the complete ownership, you need to come in person with the Will and Power of Attorney."

"No problem," say I, "I brought copies with me just in case something went wrong."

They pick me up at work, we drive to the SO. Now there are three people at the counter. I present my documents.

"These are copies, we need the originals."

Phone call home, walk Axel through where to find them in the unholy amount of paper I have collected, he gets a carshare up to the SO and yay, he has found the originals. Now there are four people standing in front of her.

Me to the person at the counter: "We're just going to keep adding people until you give us what we want."
