i've never kippled either

Axel and I had the TV on while we were getting dressed yesterday and this story came on the news. It appears that somebody complained about the lyrics to the Dire Straits song Money For Nothing and the Canadian Broadcasting Standards Council banned it from being played.

So the point of this story is not the CBSC decision. What I am going to tell you about is something else that struck me as noteworthy about this particular broadcast. At the end of the story the TV station displayed the text of some viewer emails they had received while the news jockey read them out. One of the letters featured a short list of insults directed at the CBSC and as the NJ read it she deliberately paused to skip a word. So her voice sounded something kind of like this; "...antiquated, [pause], out of touch..." When she reached the end of the letter she then added; "With an offensive word in the middle."

The word she skipped over? Was feckless.

I got nothing.

Good grief. I even used the word the other day, in an appropriate and heated context.

Maybe she thought the word was 'fuckless'?
