You know, I never think of myself as having SAD. But Axel replaced the bulbs in our lightbox and by the next day I'm able to force myself up the stairs to sit on the stationary bike for a half an hour.

The "move more" project is not going so well. My arthritis has been really making me miserable and I find it hard to push myself to move when it hurts so much. But being sedentary makes it worse, so then it hurts more, so I want to do it less so it gets even harder, so you see where it turns into such a big stupid Thing.

I know it's partially my own fault since I have supplements I'm supposed to be taking for my joints. I haven't been lately because they are these massive hard horse pills and I literally gag every time I try to swallow them. So trying to do that has become a big stupid Thing. But c'mon, I should be able to find a solution for this, says I and so I ask Axel to break a couple up for me.

So he grinds a couple into powder. And I scoop up a big spoonful of the stuff into my mouth and...

Boy howdy, do I not recommend.

It turns out that the supplements are oily which I guess I should have expected since they are literally lube for your joints. So the power sticks all over the inside of my mouth and it is foul stuff. Much choking and gagging and making faces complete with watering eyes and trying to rinse it down with my coffee later and I have to admit this is even worse than the horse pills.

So my next experiment will be buying some gelatin caps and stuffing the powder in there. I'll have to take about 50 of them that way, but (I hope) at least I'll be able to actually get them down.

This is possibly a bit gross, but I used to have to take pills by chewing up a mouthful of food, pressing the stupidly big pill into it, and then swallowing. It wasn't pretty, but it was better than throwing up and missing out on medicine.

Oh, ick. My sympathies. Stupid bodies.

Probably not an awesome idea to snort them either.

Smoothie? All my non-encapsulated shit goes in a chocolate peanut butter protein smoothie.

Getting old is definitely stupid.

Also, ten minute workouts on You Tube are saving my life, quite literally. It's like okay, ten minutes. Can do ten minutes. Uh, sometimes.

Hahaha, okay I'm laughing bc I've got my daughter in here half an hour ago saying, "Mom can you tell me what's in the peanut butter and jelly smoothie? (There's an 'S smoothie'. I can give you that one, too, though it's primarily meant to get Greens+ into a sensory kid.)

The one I make for my powdered health shit:

Soymilk (or whatever milk or milk sub you like) - 1 1/2 cups
Chocolate protein powder - 1 scoop. I used Vega until I discovered I was allergic to peas. Now I use Perfect Protein. You can also use whey or whatever.
2 T PB2 (powdered peanut butter) or regular peanut butter.
You can pop in some frozen strawberries for a PB&J smoothie, which sounds weird, but it's great. Vanilla protein powder will give you a more straight up peanut buttery situation or you can omit the PB and have a strawberry shake. Or any permutation, really. Frozen bananas if you like that. Blueberries.

The other thing I make in the blender recently I've been calling 'slightly dissatisfying frozen yogurt' (i.e. it's my ice cream substitute, so slightly dissatisfying but still tasty.) Plain Greek yogurt, frozen strawberries, PB, and a few drops of stevia. The frozen fruit whips the yogurt into a pretty froyo-y consistency. You could hide whatever you wanted in there, too, probably.

Compounding pharmacy could probably solve the horse pill problem.

Any chance the horse pills come in smaller doses that are more manageable? I'd be leery of grinding them up, as that would change the absorption curve, but two half-doses could be taken morning / night.

Pill cutter?
Or ask the chemist to cut them up? My vet did for my cats (both with and without a pill cutter I sucked at that).

Figured I would add a link (which hopefully will work):
https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xpill+cutter.TRS0&_nkw=pill+cutter&_sacat=0

I purchased one of the cheapest A$1 (which is about C$1) and it sucks. I mean, it works, but not well. I reckon a better quality one might be the ticket.
