I've been off work this week so I could try and get a handle on some of this stuff. On the plus side a sizable dent has appeared.

Tasks completed

  • Air conditioning is installed! The inside-the-house parts are a lot smaller than I anticipated. (This is a good thing.)
  • Front steps patched. It looks like hell, but I think it will hold for the time we need it to
  • Darrell's car has been taken away
  • Bag of Darrell's things for two brothers, one sister and one partner have now been successfully dropped off
  • Big box of zines have been scanned and dropped off to the zine library in town
  • Two big boxes of the last of A's things (from last year!) have finally been gathered together and dropped off
  • My clothes have been sorted (including my winter gear) and the boxes put together for storage
  • A Very Large Number of sheets & towels and stuff, some of which had been just sitting around in boxes for three years are finally organized. This required laundry. So much fucking laundry. I still have two big garbage bags of pillows I'm not sure what to do with.
  • 8 out of 10 houseplants now have permanent homes where the cats can't reach and chew on them like the suicidal idiots they are. The other two will be transplanted into the backyard at some point in the next couple of weeks.

  • Plus I also got to visit both parents and spend a little bit of time with two non-local sets of friends. I am very pleased about that, usually my working vacations end up sucking up all my time and I go back to work more tired than when I left.

Still to do[Edited because I keep remembering things]

  • Neighbourhood yard sale on May 25. I have one big box filled and a second one started. We need to get the last of the CDs burned so we can get rid of them.
  • Northern Ink Xposure is May 31-June 2. I want to have a walk around and see if anybody jumps out at me as good artist to do a simple memorial tattoo. (I gotta' say I don't usually like pictorial tattoos, but some of the artists featured on the NIX website have obviously made some kind of deal with the fae.)
  • I also need to finally pick out a design for some jewelry and get that ball rolling.
  • At some point I need to buy clothes. (I hate buying clothes) I need bras and socks.
  • Top floor is about 80% finished in terms of furniture moving and re-organization. We need to figure out where Axel's guitars are going to live and sort out the last of the clothes that are not worth keeping.
  • The living room/office is still mad chaos. Getting a handle on that comes next. (Once all the yard sale stuff leaves, that will help.)
  • There are online sites that have lists of everybody that needs to be notified of a death. Go through all my records and make sure I didn't miss anything
  • Darrell's memorial is on July 8.

    Long-term projects
  • Researching senior apartments & condos in the city. More on that later.
  • The yard. That one never really leaves the to-do list.

    Congratulations. That is a lot.

I have two chapters in my lap, so obviously yesterday I put away all my laundry and sorted through my t-shirt (printed), cardigan, and sweater drawers.

We have found that when we have old kind of lumpy pillows that are no longer great as pillows, our animal shelter likes having them as they can make the bottom of cages more comfy with a worn towel or blanket thrown over them (we donate our old towels and sheets there too.)

I have to choose between two indoor cats and house plants. It's just so cruel to have any plants around out of their reach!

Stupid cat has been outside twice. The first time she tried to eat daffodils. Immediately. The second time she got halfway down the block, lost track of which house was hers and tried to lure some strangers into adopting her with purring.

Smart cat has no interest in leaving the house, thank you.

Agreed. Maybe their mom cats look after them?

I have Mother-in-Laws Tongue in pots, and my cat(s) have been pretty good at not even biting its renal-failure-causing goodness.

Researching senior apartments & condos in the city. More on that later.

Has it come to that already?
