Final drawings were received on the weekend and we signed permission for the engineer to submit the work permit request. So in theory that part will take a couple of weeks and then construction might actually be able to start.
Meanwhile, because life is hilarious, a couple of weeks ago our attached neighbours asked if they could use our survey for their own work permit request. The reno work on their kitchen started yesterday. It's apples and oranges because we're making ours bigger and also digging out the basement, but I'm still sitting here listening to hammering and feeling more than a little wry about it.
Meanwhile, Axe spent all of last week packing up the last of their apartment and scrubbing the hell out of the entire basement while I tore my bedroom apart and did a kajillion loads of laundry. It took a while just because of how much had to be done, but between the two of us I think we have successfully dismantled any possible hiding places for either fleas or cat stealth alternatives to their litter boxes. It was gross and exhausting and involved hauling a lot of furniture around, but now all we have left is one last trip to the storage room.
I've asked BC if I can borrow her kitchen just so I can restock the freezer. We're running low on pre-prepped meals and the work hasn't even started yet.
So it goes.
