The Sandman: Preludes and Nocturnes, The Dolls House and Dream Country written by Neil Gaiman
So the Wheel of Time podcast is taking a break while we wait for the second season to drop, and one of the co-hosts is a big Sandman fan, so we decided to the do the show. This let to me re-reading the comics that were featured in the first season.
I loved the comics when I first read them so this was a trip down memory lane for me. The main places were the TV show was week (I thought) was where they had to excise the DC content. I'm kind of debating now whether or not I want to buy the Overture story, because it's the one thing I haven't read in the series.

The High Desert: Black. Punk. Nowhere. by James Spooner I picked this up at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival. Somebody yelled at me to ask if I wanted to read about a comic about a punk kid growing up in California and it's like putting cheese in a mousetrap. I didn't know when I bought this, but Spooner is one of the founders of the Afro-punk music festival. (And apparently has made a film which I now need to track down.) The comic is his autobiography, about his isolation growing up in a small town and how getting into punk music led him to eventually finding his people. |
