Hey, that's what they're for! :-) I hope today is a better writing day for you.

On Day 14, I wrote 310 words of a new short story idea I had. It's a sequel to an unpublished original short story that I never quite got right. I think the reason it landed wrong for me was that it was more a vehicle for working through some feelings/ideas around identity. This sequel feels more like a story than a confession/catharsis, if that makes sense. Anyway, there's no guarantee I'll finish it, but I like what I have so far.

It makes absolute sense. I think one of the reasons my current short story is going so easily is because I've put one of my characters into a situation I'm dealing with as well, so I'm creating a happy ending for both of us as I go along.

Out of curiosity, what is a comment fic?

comment fics are fics written in response to a prompt and posted in the comments of the post. I've been over at comment_fic on LJ, filling some prompts. There are daily prompt posts where people leave prompts to be filled, and anyone can fill whatever prompts take their fancy. The community is supposed to be mirrored here, but the daily prompt themes haven't been posted here forever. There are probably other comment fic type communities. I used to write for fic_promptly, could still go back there and fill some old prompts, but no new prompt posts have gone up in years.

Day 14: Wrote long brainstorming letter to beta reader about the outline for a future fic, using the handwritten notes from the other day.

Nice! One of these days I'll get something finished enough to look for a beta reader.

Day 14: 12 minutes-ish, just over a page. I can barely believe I've managed to keep it up for two solid weeks, not even using my old "the day does not end until I have gone to sleep" definition of "days" yet. Of course I have a very extroverted and apparently not particularly organized guest sleeping on the pull out couch starting tomorrow until Monday so that will be the challenge.
