the_siobhanThere is some kind of graffiti festival going on in Toronto today. The streetcar I was riding in passed alley after alley where people with spraycans were creating colourful artwork all over the walls. A hip-hop band was performing in one of the parking lots.
There has also been an unusually large number of bald East Asian men in saffron robes walking through the streets of the downtown area for the last couple of weeks. I haven't been able to find out what that's all about. I noticed in passing that modern robes appear to have a breast pocket where one could store sunglasses or a small wallet if one needed to.
When I stepped off the streetcar there was a man holding a sign that said, "Spare Change So I Can Kill George Bush". I asked him how he was doing. He told me he had already made twice as much money as last weekend's "Kick A Punk For A Dollar" sign.
I managed to make it through another two weeks of working midnights without going crazy. I occasionally explain to people that I only ever buy lottery tickets when I am working midnight shifts. I know it's a tiny percentage of a chance that I might win, but it's a tiny percentage of a chance that keeps me from going completely postal and taking big shiny weapons to work with me. I figure that's a good investment of a couple of bucks every few weeks.

I didn't graduate from high school, but if I hadn't dropped out I would have finished in 1982. I remember all the songs that were the top 100 hits of that year, and they were all loathsome disco or boring suburban cockrock or Olivia Newton John. The only two exceptions were one of The Police's lesser moments and... Kids In America.
I swear that song is stalking me.
I love the results of the haiku one, because it's so lovely and surreal. I have no idea where it got this text, but it's wonderful.
