So I've decided that I'm going to write about my childhood (and beyond, if I get that far) for Nanowrimo.

I'm trying to decide if I should create a new LJ just for the story, or if I should just post occasional excerpts here.

What do you think? What do other people do?

I'll definitely be locking the stuff that might be erm, somewhat critical of or embarrassing to people not here to defend themselves. So anybody who is currently on my braaaains filter who doesn't want to be subjected to that, let me know and I'll create a seperate filter for those.

(I suspect most of the triggering material will fall into the category of squirmy-unpleasant rather than violent. but I'm still remembering stuff, so I no promises.)

EDIT: Looking at the original formation of my braaaains filter makes me realize just how totally different the posts turned out to be from what I was expecting - so if anybody else wants to be taken on or off, let me know.

Last year I posted a few excerpts on my LJ and had the meter (the one that tells you how many words you are at) posted once a week.

You can scroll back through the braaaains tag if you are interested in any of the old stuff.

If I actually decide to do this, I think I'm going to go with good old pen and paper. and then type it all out and post it somewhere.
not quite sure yet.

I'd love to be on your Nano filter, whatever it turns out to be. (And the braaaains one, if you don't mind, if they're separate.)

I made a whole new LJ for it, now deleted. All posts were friends only.
That way people had to actually add it to read it.
I posted almost every chapter, though most people didn't bother to read it. ;)
I lj-cut every entry.
I posted word count updates in the regular LJ.
I found this worked rather well, and it enabled me to keep my thoughts in their cute little containers.

I'm kind of leaning in that direction.

It occurs to me that I also could point my therapist to it.

No matter how you decide to do it, I'd like to be on the list. If you want to make the whole thing available to us, why not do it as a separate journal with no comments allowed? That way you'd have the whole thing in one spot. You could make another journal for comments, depending on if you want comments or are writing it to write it. Just an idea :)

I'd like to see your nano, if you wouldn't mind.

I'll prolly post chunks of mine all over my lj, since I'm not sure I want to go and make a whole new lj for the nano.

So, I guess the moral of the post is "I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours..." ;)

I'd like to be able to see it; either here or a separate journal would work.

I'd like to read it too. However you decide to do it is cool with me (as long as it doesn't exclude me ;)

I hadn't even thought about how I'd post for NaNo, but there won't be a seperate journal. I like to keep all of my stuff in one place.

I guess I'll do a NaNo filter for excerpts and publicly post a word count to let people know I'm not sleeping on the job.

i'm really interested in reading it, because i really love your writing and way of telling stories. and i'm always curious about my friends' life stories, it's funny how you can be friends with someone for years and never really find out what made them the way they are.

i'd like to read it. in general i prefer if people keep everything they write in one journal, but if it's more useful to you to separate it out it'll certainly be no skin off my back.

For mine, I created a filter for NaNo and posted to that, with each entry behind an LJ-cut that denoted my word-count progress.

On the other hand, I don't think anybody actually *read* any of them, so maybe that's not a winning strategy. ;)
