Aug. 3rd, 2006 12:39 pmLast and final question.

This is a ceramic frog.
It is designed to hold scrubbies and soap and stuff like that. Mostly it just sits beside the sink and collects scum from where the tap leaks.
There is an engraved signature on the base that says, "Fiona McLoughlin '75". See when my sister was a kid she used to take classes. Lots and lots of classes. You thought the pic of me in the ballerina outfit was a scream? There are pics of baby sis in ballet, tap, baton twirling and every other kind of weird dance ritual they stuck young children into during the 70's. (My favourite was the sailor suit she wore one year for her tap class.)
So one thing she did was ceramics. For a good two years every special occasion was marked with the gift of a little statue. This was during my horse-crazy years, so I got a ceramic horse from her for one birthday.
This frog is the first thing she ever made. It lived on my mother's counter for years. When my mother finally moved out of the house she left it behind. A couple of years later my sister also moved out and I helped sort out 15 years worth of crap and we hauled out all the furniture and trash. I scooped the frog.
I've no idea what happened to the horse over the years. But I still have the frog.
What I'm listening to right this second: OK GO

For some reason it's the white shoes that really make it for me.)
