your bits of random for the day

I get a three-day weekend because of Remembrance Day.
Fuck what your punk buddies say, working for the Man rocks.
--------------------------------------------------
I had a conversation with
tristam08 that I thought was absolutely hilarious, where we were talking about fetishizing crunchy vegetables now because everything we ever got fed when we were kids was boiled to mush.
I always think it's hilarious whenever I talk to somebody who is of Irish or English decent and who starts nodding their head vigorously in understanding whenever I say something like that.
--------------------------------------------------
I had a text message from
the_axel this morning saying "safely in BSE".
It took several hours for my brain to finally parse that as "Bury St Edmunds" and not "Bovine Spongiform Encephalitis".
--------------------------------------------------
I woke bolt upright in bed in the middle of the night last night because I heard the toilet flush.
Apparently my subconscious can remain fully cognizant that Axel is in England when I'm sound asleep, but can't remember the fact that I'm sleeping in
bcholmes apartment.
--------------------------------------------------
I started doing yoga in the last couple of weeks, with a woman who lives on my street. And when I'm signing up for it, I'm thinking, "Yoga. That's relaxing, right? Just some stretching. Should be easy."
All you people who have ever actually done yoga before can point and laugh at me now.

Re: vegetables. My grandmother used to start cooking carrots an hour before dinner. They were beyond mush by the time we ate them. Gotta love Irish cooking.

Date: 2006-11-12 12:52 am (UTC)And veggies...on *that*, I'm definitely nodding along. My Irish mother and granny would cook those things til they were good and dead. You'd think we'd all lost all our teeth and could only gum them...
