Did a few tentative dabs at getting caught up on my f-list. Ha ha! Um. No. Please do poke me with anything important because otherwise I can pretty much guarantee I'll have missed it.

Feeling kinda overwhelmed since I got back. Some good stuff. Some really bad stuff. Some just stuff. Still figuring out how to deal with it all.

Along with trying to write down follow-ups on the Convergence panel, sorting through 4500+ photographs[1], cleaning up several thousand emails[2], re-stocking the fridge, doing laundry, cleaning & putting away camping gear, getting back into some kind of gym routine, cleaning the house and otherwise getting prepped for Axel's party next weekend. Oh, and going back to work.

So yeah. Not so much with the LJ.

[1] And trying to remember what they are.
[2] Recovered, yay! In text format, boo!

Buying food from local sources is getting a lot of press lately, to the point that Axe & I heard a CBC feature on it while we were in the car. Which led to a conversation about the comparative benefits of eating an omnivorous but local diet vs eating vegetarian/vegan if your goal is to reduce your carbon footprint.

We're trying to reduce the amount of meat in our diet. But is it really helping if we cut down on the meat we buy - all raised in Southern Ontario - and replace it with vegetables shipped from all over the world?

(Of course the ideal is to go vegan and eat only locally grown organic foods, but just for the sake of argument.)
