I almost made it out of the house yesterday, but the TTC declined to cooperate and it was actually something where I wanted to show up on time.
Especially as public transit gets less and less reliable I really miss being able to cycle places. If my destination was within bicycle distance I used to know exactly how long it took me to get there.

The Old Man's last hospitalization finally got him bumped up the list to see a specialist. He got his initial referral March of last year, but the specialist had a two year waiting list and apparently he's the only one who does this particular work. So we're doing a video interview with him - I say "we" because the Old Man gets very anxious and it often takes several explanations for him to understand questions and directives when he's flustered. So he always wants me to be there, even for a video call.
You know, people have been joking as long as I've been alive that we have the best educated taxi drivers in the world, because people are allowed to immigrate based on skills we need and then we don't let them actually work in their field. I used to work with doctors and nurses in the blood bank, packing boxes. Most of them were going to night school on their own dime. I get that figuring out how to share accreditation between different countries is difficult, but for fuck sake, we've had decades to figure it out.
Or shit, if we need doctors, the government pays your tab if you graduate and keeps doing that until we have enough. That would help maybe?

Internet is still being a pain in the ass. On Monday somebody shows up from a different company to set up a brand new service. That's honestly why I haven't been online much lately, for every 7 hours I have to put in at work every day there's an extra two hours spent rebooting and logging back in. It's been driving me spare and it's sucking up the time I normally use to catch up on anything else. And going into the office means dealing with the Dufferin bus. (D used to call that bus "the honey badger" because it just don't care.)
I've been writing again though, because when the connection goes down for the 123rd time in the day and I can't be arsed to haul my knees down the stairs to reboot I can just scribble a few sentences down instead. On the other tentacle, it means I have not been doing my usual yoga because I do those by following along with youtube, and wow does that ever not go well when you can't keep an internet connection alive.
Hopefully tomorrow I will rejoin the 21st century and that's one thing checked off my list.
