A 20-foot snow globe is touring Ontario to promote tourism.

There are people inside it.

...

Western culture is just fucking weird.

So do we get to pick it up with a crane and shake the shit out of it to see it snow?

That is it's logical purpose in life, after all.

Odd.. a marketing slogan that is factually true.

"There's no place like this". And thank god for that.

Heh. The weird isn't confined to Western culture (http://www.samuraisoapbox.com/category/japanese-fashion/).

Japan isn't a fair comparison. It's like the UberWestern culture. Environmental rapine, weirdo fetishes, super consumerism and fucked up television all in one country.

Yabbut they didn't get it all from us; I have a small but amazing collection of pre-WWII-era Japanese comic books and pornography, left to me by my mother*, that contain the cultural roots of practically all the Weird we see today.

* Mom was a US military wife in 1950s Japan. While other people's moms were collecting books on flower arranging and picking up cheap silk to make little cocktail dresses from, mine was evidently collecting porn.

That's truly awesome.

There's a video rental store in Toronto that has some home-made videos some guy did of random commercials and game shows. That was what originally cemented my mental image of "Japan. Not Like Other Places."

The original plan was to have hamsters inside of it, but their lawyers said it would be too cruel.

Heeeyyy... I didn't see that thing at the icewine festival. No fair. Although, after 5 or 6 glasses of icewine, I'd likely have tried to get inside it, so maybe for the best.

That was my first thought.

Actually my second, after how to get it to snow inside.
