This request is specifically directed to those people on my f-list who are trying to lose weight, especially any who are doing so by calorie-counting.

Could you please take me off the filter for those particular posts, or else put the details behind a cut-tag?

Due to some other stresses in my life, the annoying 20-year-old in my head who thinks vodka and speed are the only two essential food groups has made her re-appearance in her special slot in the DMZ part of my brain. Just recently she's started actually sounding kind of convincing. I very much want to cut off that shit at the knees, because a 45 year-old with an eating disorder is just fucking embarrassing, thanks.

This isn't meant to single anybody out. It's my issue, I'm just asking for some help with it.

In slightly more positive news, today I got notification of my first date with a respirologist. We are about to become very close. Asthma can suck my dick.

[EDIT] FYI, other health related or exercise related posts are fine. My ED issues are specifically around calorie-counting and limiting food.

Hooray for respirologists. Are you on all the inhaled steroids already? *is a steroid-huffer for life*

I'm doing Advair daily and it's not doing a damn thing. My doctor just put me on Singular a few days ago to see if it helps at all.

Mostly I just want somebody who will work with me until we find something that at least kinda-sorta works. My treatment up until now has been very hit-or-miss. Which was ok when my asthma wasn't too bad, but over the past few years it's become really problematic.

I have an inflammatory condition that's not asthma, allergies, and then exercise-induced asthma; not breathing is the WORST. I hope you can find some solutions.

I am not trying to lose weight, by any method. That said, I usually put the numbers part of the gym posts behind cut tags. Is that sufficient for your comfort, or would you be better off if I cut-tagged the entire thing?

I actually don't find your posts triggery at all. You have always been very clear with the purpose of your gym posts.

So yes, please do continue with what you are doing. Positive body relationship stuff is all good.

Sorry about that... even my super-healthy attempts at fitness do involve some weight-loss angsting. I shall create an opt-in filter, because you aren't the only eating-disorder survivor on my friends list.

Thank you for that. Fitness stuff in general is fine, it seems to be the calorie-specific posts that are problematic.

Haven't calorie counted in ages due to triggers.

If you need my support or anything like that with this let me know. I am here.

Completely understand this. I get sulky about my figure, especially with being around sticks at the rink so much, but it's much too hard to change my diet, in which coffee figures prominently.

My brain went there yesterday for the first time in many, many years, but then I envisioned trying to work in that fuzzy state (something I'm struggling enough at as it is), or chase a toddler... that shut it up fast.

Gentle with yourself.

Ah. I post about that stuff so infrequently that I forget it can be triggering (which I shouldn't, because it can actually be triggering for me, too). I'll do my best to remember to cut tag, at least, in the future.

I don't think I go into much detail, but do you want me to put my occasional posts behind cuts? Will be happy to do it if you need me to... just let me know.

Ugh, I'm sorry it's come to that place.

You never opted into my filter on such things, so you're in the clear! ;) (Not that I ever use the damn thing)

Does "too many jelly beans, ooogh" count as limiting food? It's not about the calories, I promise!

That was my thought - as far as I get with counting calories is "I shouldn't have had that third piece of cake".

I'm glad you're taking care of yourself.

And I think our society is fucked up enough around food and women's bodies that a 45 year old with an eating disorder is sadly, far too plausible.

*nods* Totally understand you on this one -- I had to ask a specific friend to filter her posts on the subject a while ago, and I felt awful about it, but it was making me too twitchy to read her journal.

Ask your respirologist about an inhaler called Asmanex -- it's proven to be much better than the Advair/Singulair or Advair/Atrovent combo that I was on before this latest bout of asthmatic bronchitis. And this one doesn't give me heart palpitations, yay!

G'luck, hon!
