...the California Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage Thursday in a ruling that would allow same-sex couples in the nation's biggest state to tie the knot

Yay California, boo Associated Press reporters with zero knowledge of geography.

It is the biggest if they mean in terms of population.

This was the best news I've seen all week.

That's what I assumed they meant, was population.

I'm all giddy. :)

I caught that too when I read the story a little earlier. I kept telling myself that they really called us the biggest state to allow same-sex couples to marry. Self-delusion can be a good thing sometimes. :)

What always disturbs me about reporting on appeal decisions is that they exhibit zero interest in law; there's always just a default to ideology. Decisions may as a matter of fact usually break down on ideological lines (especially, I guess, in a system where judges are elected), but I wish there wasn't a (self-fulfilling?) presumption that that's just the way the (sham of a) system works.

You beat me to it... was gonna post later.

I wonder if the ones who were married here in SF and then got annulled by the court will have to do it again.
