I caught that too when I read the story a little earlier. I kept telling myself that they really called us the biggest state to allow same-sex couples to marry. Self-delusion can be a good thing sometimes. :)
What always disturbs me about reporting on appeal decisions is that they exhibit zero interest in law; there's always just a default to ideology. Decisions may as a matter of fact usually break down on ideological lines (especially, I guess, in a system where judges are elected), but I wish there wasn't a (self-fulfilling?) presumption that that's just the way the (sham of a) system works.
