In response to my last post dali_muse brought up a question about Convergence. Which made me finally admit to myself that I'm not going to be able to go this year.

I was putting off making that call in the hopes I could still squeeze the funds out of somewhere. But I had budgeted a certain amount of money for that trip and as of today Lola's vet bills have now hit a total twice what I had hoped to put aside. Something had to go. And as my other big optional expenses for the year are a) already paid for and b) non-refundable... Convergence is it.

So I'll be seeing you lot in Utah.

Not unless I win the lottery. I'm reaching critical mass for a major life change that should happen next year. So, I'm putting all of my energy into that. If there's a way for me to make it to C16, I'll be there, but right now, it's looking like not.

I understand completely... looks like we're in the exact same boat (bad choice of phrase!). We have a long-awaited, Euro trip already happening later this year, and it just hasn't been the time to be able to pull off multiple expensive trips right now.... A pity though ~ as I'm sure the ladies of Long Beach are going to pull off an exceptional C*.

Sorry to hear about the vet bills. It's insane just how high/quickly those can climb :/

Sadly, I just tend to go without, and rely on home remedy methods instead as much as humanly possible. Let's just say peppermint tea is my friend!

I'm sorry to hear things got so expensive with Lola. I know that I've had to do without a lot of things this year after Fritz had to have a $6000 surgery due to a herniated disc in his back in October--just after I quit my job to go back to work. It really sucks, and I too wonder how the hell they manage to pay medical bills and even have children in the US with how much things cost for my wee fur ball.

Well poo. Vet bills sure do add up. Mr Boo Cat has had a couple of surgeries at several hundred dollars a pop, not to mention the drugs and follow-up appts. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat though.

M and I won't be at Convergence either. We were tempted cause the Queen Mary sounds gorgeous, but we have too much debt to pay off.

Ya know, we could have a mini-Convergence BBQ here in TO that weekend. Dress in black, blast some tunes, drink some beer and grill some meat. :)
