Anybody on my flist ever been to the Vegetarian Food Fair? What did you think?

I'm debating going, but I'm not interested if it's just a bunch of companies trying to market their version of the soy burger.

I've been a few times. Since it is a food fair there is a lot of hawking of cheesy wares, be they kitchen gadgets of the new ULTRA-Soy(tm) Burger! or whatever.
There is also a heavy cult presence. As a result, I skipped the last few years.

i love going because there is so many things available and not just the latest veggie creation technology. The food is delicious to eat there and I get tons of baked goods from sweets of the earth and get to see some amazing artisans

No useful opinions here,

I've been several times. Yes, there is a lot of fake soy-meat on offer, but also lots of recipes and info. The tofu-based ice cream is surprisingly good.

I've gone and enjoyed it. There is of course the whole "soy hawking" but there are also cooking demos and fun things like that. There's usually deals on things like soy ice cream and other things like that...one year there was an amazing deal on fake beef jerky which Natasha LOVES. Another time there was a stand selling what had to be the best Jamaican Patties I've ever had and they were in flavours like "lentil" sooo yummy.

Oh and there's at least one section full of books--cook books, books on sustainable living, etc and most are priced slightly less then cover price.

I also like the booth that "Sick on Sin" seems to have up yearly, featuring cute t-shirts with things like a cartoon pig's face and the words "not my dinner" on it... They also have ones with steaks printed on them, but that's part of their collection you *won't* find at the food fair. ;)
